In the Fall, we had a few realitors come out and give us an estimate on what our house was worth and what we would need to do to get it ready to sell. It seemed overwhelming at the time and so we did nothing but paint the trim on the house which needed desperatly to be done. We would periodically get emails from one of the realitors about houses for sale in our area. We would look at the emails (sometimes) and the almost immediatly delete them. One house came up and I said to Ed that it would be fun to look at. (Indoor, inground pool... one that we could never afford!) Ed called the realitor and set up an appointment... then told me what he did. I thought he was crazy, but it would be fun to look at a house. The day we were to look at the house, it was pouring rain! We had the girls with us. We looked at the house anyway and knew it was definitley not for us. When we were walking out the door, the realitor said to us, "Hey, I set up an appointment at another house if you'd like to see it." We truly weren't interested, but then felt bad not going, so we went.
Long story short... it ended up to be an amazing house we fell in love with. So, within 5 weeks we have:
- gotten pre-approved for a morgage
- bid on the house
- countered on the house
- countered on the house
- countered on the house
- Yahoo, they accepted our contingent bid
- begin thinking about the millions of things that need to be done to our home before we could sell
- they got a new offer :(
- Get approved to go non-contingent
-Sweat bullets because we just signed a contract to buy a house before we have even put ours on the market.
- Rent a pod to declutter our house
- miss big garbage day by one day... have to take 3 van loads and two truck loads to the dump of junk
- pod gets filled and leaves.
- hire dry waller to come and take the ugly plastic tiles out of the kitchen and redrywall so we can prime and paint the kitchen
-prime and paint the living room and bathroom
-replace lights in basement and kitchen
-(take care of sick child with horrible, horrible flu, another child with 8 day fever and to top it off another child with ... pink eye)
- fly to Florida to drive my mom with hurt leg back home to Buffalo
- install moulding in kitchen, scrub handles
- pick up curtains made by my mom and cabinet handles cleaned by my mom (THANK YOU!) for newly cleaned cupboards
- prevent fire from wrong wattage bulb being placed in newly installed light in basement by ripping glass cover off light to be sure there was no fire in the light and sending the cover crashing to the floor... picking up broken glass EVERYWHERE!!!
- Wash throw rugs in preparation for open house... clog washer due to one rug being old and the backing coming off. Now, no washer and loads of laundry to catch up on!
- Trip and fall back on open dryer door, bending so that it no longer stays closed...
- Pack boxes for moving sale
- Declutter house... now it echos
-Have open house
-Get two offers
-Sign contract with young couple with one son... totally like us 10 years ago... and a Red Sox fan to boot!
-Wait with baited breath for home inspection.
- Passed home inspection with flying colors!!! Sold house!!!! Moving into new house!!!!!
YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
Welcome to our new home...
