Yes.... No.... Maybe... Yes... No.... Yes! Oh, NO!!!

The inconsistent answers we are getting with the closing of our current house is making me crazy!!!! It is hard for me to comprehend just how people can be....

I know I have to be thankful... which I truly AM... that things have completely gone "our way" the entire process of buying our new home and selling our current house. As you may or may not know, we are anxious to close this week so I have a four day weekend off from school to move in and get settled! Recently, the buyers said they couldn't close in May because they would have to pay an "extra" mortgage payment. Then they said they would close only if we would PAY that mortgage payment FOR them. (to the tune of $1200.00) HMMM.... I DON'T THINK SO!!!!

After speaking to the Realtors, (theirs included) the Realtors thought that perhaps being first time buyers they didn't understand that a mortgage is prorated. So their Realtor spoke with them, explained everything and then they changed their mind and were ready to go again at the end of this week.

Yesterday, when I got home from school, Ed started by saying... "I'm glad you're sitting!" (Never a good way to begin a conversation!!) He went on to explain that our lawyer had called to ask if we would be willing to pay "lost wages" for the buyers to close at the end of the week. Supposedly they can't take the day before or after a long weekend off. Now, I have that same "rule" at school UNLESS there is legal reason or an out of town wedding etc... I would say a closing is a legal reason... right? Anyway, in addition to the lost wages, they wanted us to pay $60.00 a day for two days if we closed on Thursday because we wouldn't be out of the house until Saturday morning. Oh yeah... the lost wages were $750.00!!!!!!! (Who in the world makes $750.00 a day that can't take the day off before a long weekend??????? ) OH MAN... I still get fired up thinking about this. They obviously think we are idiots! How insulting. Am I being unreasonable being offended by this?

Now, my moral dilemma is that before all of this happened, we said we would leave the sandbox as well as some curtains around the house. I know... not a huge deal, but it would be nice to have something up on the windows for the first night so that everyone is not peeking in your windows. We really don't have a use for them at the new house, but I feel like donating them to someone who could use them is worth my time now... instead of leaving them for people who are trying any tactic possible to get money from us. There is no contract saying that I need to leave these curtains or sandbox or anything else. It was more of a courtesy. I don't want to be courteous right not. I'm even tempted to take the toilet paper!!!!!! :)
