I had the privilege of going to a presentation by Nate's class (5th grade) on Friday called "Monumental Moms". It was an amazing presentation of song, poems and then the reading of small descriptions written by the children. I have done a similar presentation with my Kindergartners and my first graders for as long as I can remember.
Not so sure I enjoy being on this end of it....
This was Nate's description:
My mom is a great mom. She has brown eyes (umm... close.... green) and brown hair (he was nice... more like mousey brown and gray). She is 38 years old and is somewhere around 5'9". She is always in the shower for at least 25 minutes. (Ha!) My mom is a teacher and a very hard worker. She loves entertainment and always seems to entertain my dad, brother, two sisters and me by always tripping, falling and hurting herself. (which for your information... when being read aloud to about 50 people sounded more like ... she always seems to entertain my dad, brother, two sisters and me by alway stripping...... which ensued mass laughter and mass embarrassment on my part) My mom's name is Rachelle and she's a clean freak. She's on the phone 24/7 with friends. (ok... you got me there... I do enjoy chatting on the phone) She hates it when someone else has the TV clicker, especially my dad because he changes it to the Boston Red Sox games and after that she freaks out. (I wouldn't say "freaks out"... mildly complains is more like it) Her favorite restaurants are Outback Steakhouse and Olive Garden. Some of her favorite TV shows are the Biggest Loser and Survivor. My mom is great, even though she yells at me a lot for dumb things that I don't even do. (Could've stopped at the "my mom is great!) :)
As I said, this was a read in front of approximately 50 people... students I taught in the past and all of their moms.... And, remember.... I said I LOVED being a mom....
When the rest of the kids got home on Friday, they couldn't wait to give me their gift they made in school. Nolan made a recipe book and included the recipe for Strawberry Shortcake because he knew I liked it. He was very proud.
Neleah wrote a little book for me:
My mom has brown eyes (hmmm... perhaps I don't get close enough to my children). My mom likes the color purple.. My mom has brown hair. Mom is beautiful. Mom is nice. Mom helps me ride a two wheeler. It is fun! My mom is helpful. My mom likes to teach . My mom likes to watch Biggest Looser. In the night, she says prayers with me. When I get home, my mom helps me with my homework. I love my mom. My mom is good at making mac and cheese. My mom is also good at helping people. My mom is good at making patterns. (Not sure what that means.) My mom is good at hugging. I love to snuggle with my mom. I love to play games with my mom. It is fun. I like to play kickball with my mom. I like to go to work with my mom. I love you mom! Love, Neleah
Nevada was very proud of the picture frame she made for me. It brought tears to my eyes because my baby is getting sooooo big!

This picture was taken while we were in Disney this past summer... the land where "Dreams Come True". I thought it was appropriate because my dreams HAVE come true. Thank you God!
Happy Mother's Day to all moms! Enjoy your day and enjoy your children!!!!!
