On January 1st, Ed and I committed to each other and to our family that this would be the year we took control of our health. We had noticed that Nate was putting on a few pounds and the kids were not eating as healthy as we would have liked them to. We made changes as far as eating and exercising and consequently, the kids have followed our lead. It has been an awesome journey so far... we have a long way to go.... but the grand totals so far:
Rachelle has lost 23 pounds.
Ed has lost 41 pounds!!!!!!!!! YAHOOO! He looks so different to me.
I really believe it has been an eye opener to commit to a life change that needed to take place for a long time. We often remember what we would eat in one sitting and now think OH MY GOODNESS.... NO WONDER WE LOOK LIKE WE DO!!!!
We have not gone out to dinner in a very long time so we decided to treat the kids today to a dinner. We went to Olive Garden. Before going, I decided to look on line to see their nutrition information. It was so eyeopening. The best news is that I found this awesome dinner that was only 300 cal. and it was delicious!!! It can be done, even eating out once in a while.
We will continue to work hard and both have over 100 more pounds to loose, but we'll do it. It is wonderful to be supporting each other. We make menu's together and make dinner together each night. I'm thankful we are doing this together... making our relationship stronger, our health stronger and our families health stronger as well!!

One day at a time! I have found that there will be certain triggers that will bring back bad eating habits. The wonderful principle of ODAT allows me to recommit every day. Ed an I are second generation over-eaters for mood stabilization. It is an eye-opener when we see this being passed to the next generation. We must break this link of addiction! --John
ps. I am writing this while doing my aerobic exercise on the elliptical machine:-)
